Defensive Edge Martial Arts Training - When you meet Sensei Rick Alford, you will feel like you've known him forever. He runs a great facility with great instructors, who are not only tops in their areas but are sincerely caring people. If you've considered looking into martial arts, and are perhaps a bit shy about doing so, we can say that this is a place where you will feel welcome and comfortable. Programs include Small Circle Jujitsu, Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts, as well as programs tailored for kids.
Game 7 Sports Training - Located in Malden Center, as part of McGovern Physical Therapy, Game 7 brings the knowledge of Kevin McGovern, DPT, to conditioning and strength training. With a strong basis in medical science, Game 7 will tailor a program to meet your needs. Many of their instructors have played pro baseball, and are well aware of the needs of the competitive athlete. I've had the pleasure of meeting their trainers, and I was very impressed, not only with their professional approach, but also with what great people they are.
Chris McKnight's Baseball Vision Program We met Chris at the Mass Baseball Coaches Association annual meeting, and became instant friends. He's based in Wisconsin, but he has a great video of training drills you can order to work on, as well as the Vision Rings and Bat-Racs. His resume is quite impressive, and he's an awesome guy!
North Shore Hockey - Bob Houston has provided clinics, camps, and competitive programs for players from the youngest, right on through high school and college for over 25 years . North Shore Hockey has produced players that have gone on to top colleges, national teams, and the NHL. They have an extensive list of programs for players of all levels and ages.
Extra Innings Indoor Baseball and Softball Training Center, Woburn. With some of the best baseball instructors to be found anywhere, Extra Innings is a great place to learn, refine your skills, or just take some swings at their indoor batting cages. We've been friendly with the people there for some time, and they're great!
Max Muscle Sports Nutrition - located barely a minute from my office, this is where I get those great protein bars that keep me from eating things that might not be as good for me; but that's not only what you'll find there. Owner Mike Fauci (whom I always enjoy talking with immensely) has the knowledge and products to get you on the right track, no matter what your goals are.
Boston Cannons - the local representative in Major League Lacrosse. I've become quite a fan of the game in the past couple of years - lacrosse is fast, exciting, and it's hard to believe the sheer athleticism of the players, especially considering they have to go to work the rest of the week like you and I. Boston finished the 2010 season at the top of the league, and it was a great year. The games are at Harvard Stadium, so the parking isn't bad at all, and the players even have a section where the kids can "meet and greet" them, and get autographs after the game!
