We have set up our facility to train visual skills in every area that is important to athletic performance. We use a combination of free-space and computer-based training to build and enhance your visual skills, along with techniques you can do at home in between weekly sessions.

On the right is the Wayne Peripheral Awareness Trainer (PAT), and down the far end is the Dolman Apparatus for depth perception testing & training. On the counter on the left are stereoscopes for anti-suppression training, and aperture rule for training eye movements, and the computer and projector for the computer-based techniques.

The Wayne Saccadic Fixator (WSF) is shown in this photo. It is used for hand-eye coordination testing and training. The user presses lights as they light, and the number of correct responses is shown on the display. There are several routines that can be used, both self-paced and machine-paced.
Also shown are some of the attachments to the Wayne Saccadic Fixator; to the left is the Accommodative Rock (focusing) attachment, which tests and trains how rapidly the user can shift focus from distance to near. And below the WSF is a balance board to train eye/foot and eye/body coordination and reaction time. Along the bottom we see the Speed Trac, which houses a row of LED's that light up in sequence to simulate an approaching target (e.g. baseball pitch) and measure whether the response is early, late, or on time.

This photo shows one of the computer based training programs. Called a tachistocope, it presents an image (a five-digit number is shown in the example) for a specific number of milliseconds, and then asks the user to input the number; it then displays the number of correct digits and the speed at which the image was shown. It helps train speed of recognition, which is vital in many situations in sports.
